Under the brand name iPulse™, CyDen has developed low cost, safe to use and clinically effective consumer electrical products that can provide light therapy and treatments for a range of clinical and cosmetic requirements, based on a rich heritage of its founders’ pioneering work in this area. Cyden’s plan is for its iPulse technology platform to be the leading choice worldwide for consumers to use an IPL device at home.
CyDen has developed uniquely safe and efficient ways to deliver Intense Pulsed Light (“IPL”) therapy. IPL is a mode of light therapy that is used primarily for permanent hair removal, but also can be applied to skin rejuvenation (wrinkle reduction), reduction in the appearance of acne and pigmentation and a range of other cosmetic and medical conditions. It has now been widely deployed by medical practitioners or beauty therapists, across the professional market globally for over 10 years. Cyden’s unique clinical understanding and engineering offer IPL treatment as a consumer product for people to use at home.
CyDen was established in 2004 to develop and commercialise products based on its patented and proprietary technology called iPulse and is also endowed with a range of additional patents relating to the unique product design features and clinical applications. Having proven its IPL product capabilities in the professional clinic and salon based markets over the period of 2007 to 2008, Cyden has since focussed its efforts on its vision to offer IPL products to the consumer marketplace and so ‘democratise light therapy’.
In February 2009 Boots launched the jointly branded Smooth Skin iPulse product, which has now sold over 40,000 units through Boots’ high street stores and web based shop to popular acclaim. See
Boots for further information.
The Smooth Skin iPulse is now the UK’s leading consumer IPL device and Cyden plans to replicate this success through partnerships with other leading global FMCG companies in addressing different geographical markets and clinical categories of permanent hair removal/reduction, skin rejuvenation, etc where it can offer validation of treatment efficacy. This is expected attract interest in Cyden from some of the world’s leading personal care and FMCG companies where it can be successfully executed.
